Whistler’s Ziplines

There are three zipline tour operation in and around the Whistler area:

  1. Ziptrek Ecotours in Whistler
  2. Whistler Superfly Ziplines
  3. Ziptrek Sasquatch Zipline

A Whistler Zipline tour is a truly fantastic experience and one of our clients’ favourite adventure activities. We can help you select the right tour for your group and make sure you are given private door to door transportation services.

Ziptrek Ecotours in Whistler

Ziptrek Ecotours is located in Whistler. We will take your group or guests right to the main access for this Whistler zipline at Charleston Lodge in the main village across from the Whistler gondolas.

The zipline is a very professional operation staffed by friendly, professional and well trained guides. All guests will be fitted with a custom Ziptrek harness and climbing helmet.

The zip line operates in a pristine old-growth temperate rainforest, where there is spectacular scenery and amazing views to take in along the way. Your inspiring journey through the forest happens via a combination of suspension bridges, treetop observation platforms, ground based trails and ziplines. Breathe in crisp mountain air as you cruise above white-water rivers and the alpine forest of Blackcomb Mountain and Whistler, spotting local wildlife and learning about mountain ecology.

The ziplines are gravity fed, so you do not have to worry about controlling your own speed. They are very safe for braking too. Ziptrek uses a proprietary braking system that allows for a smooth deceleration and finish on each zip run. Two tour guides will accompany you on your tour, one guide to connect (launch platform) and one guide to disconnect (landing platform) for each and every person.

There are two route options to choose from:

  1. Bear Tour: 5 Ziplines, 4 Tree-Top Bridges, 2.5-3 Hours Five incredible ziplines varying in length from 400 feet to over 1,000 feet long connected via a network of canopy bridges and boardwalks. The Bear Tour is perfect for families, groups and those who have never ziplined before.
  2. Eagle Tour: 5 Ziplines, 4 Tree-Top Bridges, 2.5-3 Hours On the Eagle Tour, you’ll get to venture up the Whistler Gondola to your first zipline and then end your adventure by zipping all the way to Whistler Village. A 2,400-foot awe-inspiring dual zipline makes this tour perfect for those who have already experienced ziplining or are seeking even more heart-pounding adrenaline!

What to Bring on a Whistler Zipline Tour

Dress with layers. Mountain weather can change quickly and unexpectedly. In summer, shorts and T-shirts are often suitable. In winter we recommend that guests wear the same clothing  they’d wear for a day of skiing. Some platforms have heaters to allow guests to warm up between zips. Wear hiking boots or athletic type footwear. Dress shoes, high-heels and sandals are not permitted.

Health, Safety and Physical Requirements: Participants must be a minimum of 65lbs/30kgs (Bear Tours) or 75lbs/34kgs (Eagle Tours) to a maximum of 275lbs/125kgs. Children less than 65lbs can zip tandem with a guide. Please arrange through Ziptrek’s Guest Services immediately following your reservation. Minimum age is 6 years old. Be prepared for light physical exertion and be aware that the tour includes climbing stairs and some hiking. No smoking, drugs or alcohol are permitted on the tour at any time. Guests must be able to walk unassisted for the duration of the tour. Unfortunately, no one who is pregnant can participate.

Whistler Superfly Ziplines

Whistler Superfly Ziplines offers the longest zipline in Canada! It is based in Whistler and promises that you will soar above breathtaking alpine wilderness, white-water river valleys, old-growth forests and more. Feel the mountain breeze on your face as you hit speeds of up to 62 mph (100 kph), shooting down multiple lines connected by wooden boardwalks and platforms.

This is a 3-hour zipline tour adventure that includes plenty of time to pause and take in the incomparable beauty of Whistler and its surrounding region. Every group is guided by a professional instructor and you will receive a brief safety lesson and get partnered up for side-by-side riding. Then gear up and strap in for the approximate 3-hour circuit!

Ziptrek – Sasquatch Zipline

Test your nerve on Canada’s longest zipline on this 1.5-hour Sasquatch zipline adventure in Whistler, now operated by Ziptrek. Following a safety briefing with a guide, harness up to the zipline and let yourself go! During your 7,000-foot (2,133-meter) descent, zoom at top speed down the face of Blackcomb Mountain, and take in spectacular views over the forests, lakes, peaks, rivers and glacier. At the bottom, disconnect from the zipline with a smile of exhilaration on your face and watch as your friends whizz down.

The adventure begins at Upper Blackcomb Village at the Ziptrek kiosk/tent. Taking on the Sasquatch starts by checking in and then meeting the guide in the Upper Village. All guests have the option of a free GoPro for the duration of their tour, which is provided when checking in. If interested in purchasing the SD card, it can be arranged following the tour. The group will then take a short van ride (September to October) or the Wizard Chair Lift up Blackcomb Mountain to the set-up area. Guests will harness here and have a quick safety chat before being transported approximately five minutes to the Sasquatch zipline. Guides will be waiting at each line ready to attach guests onto one of two side-by-side ziplines. The guides will explain everything, including taking a few steps down the stairs to wait. Acceleration happens very quickly, so just hold on (or let go) and enjoy the rush. Approximately two thirds of the way across, there will be a decrease in speed. This is the chance to really take in the amazing views of the mountains, village, lakes, rivers, forest, and glacier. Enjoy the remaining time on the zipline since it will be rolling into the slow-braking mechanism shortly, where more guides are waiting to disconnect passengers. The zip will take approximately 60 to 90 seconds. From the viewing platform, watch as friends come across next. Once everyone from the group has zipped, there will be a short trail hike to download on the Whistler Village Gondola to Whistler Village, de-harness and onto your next Whistler adventure.
